What is VizorStor? VizorStor is an innovative storage accessory that is designed to hold documents securely over your vehicle’s sunvisor without interfering with the operation of the visor. Being a law enforcement officer, I originally designed VizorStor to fill a need in law enforcement vehicles. I soon realized my VizorStor accessory was applicable to anyone that by habit or by need uses his or her visor to hold papers, maps, and other documents.

What motivated VIZORSTOR’S creation? For several hours, every day and night, police officers’ cars become their office on wheels. Given the amount of equipment in modern police cars, adequate storage space for the number of documents officers routinely handle is hard to find. Police officers frequently store important paperwork such as maps, cheat sheets, and other documents between the vehicle’s sunvisor and the headliner. The officers do this to position those items for quick, easy access; keep them from being misplaced; and protect them from the damage. Among other things, a down side of this method is that the stored papers make it inconvenient to use the visor to block the sun. Not only is this an inconvenience, it’s a potential safety issue. Newton’s First Law of Motion theorizes, "…an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an unbalance of force". Newton’s Law is frequently tested during times of quick acceleration, requiring the driver to dodge flying papers while attempting to respond to an emergency or catch a violator.
For years, I have endured this problem and wondered why someone didn’t come up with a fix. With a degree in machine design, it finally occurred to me that I should be able to do that as well as anyone or I had wasted a lot of money and teachers’ time (mom never did say I was the sharpest tool in the shed).

What is VIZORSTOR’S design? VizorStor is designed to hold paperwork firmly against the vehicle’s headliner without compromising the integrity of the sunvisor or the comfort of the vehicle’s occupants. VizorStor’s vehicle specific mounting brackets are designed to fit under the existing sunvisor mounts, using the vehicle’s existing hardware. Installation only takes a few minutes and rarely requires additional parts. Two custom-made torsion springs hold the VizorStor framework firmly against the headliner of the vehicle while allowing easy insertion of materials. When the vehicle’s sunvisor is lowered, VizorStor remains against the headliner, holding those important papers for immediate, convenient, access.

What are some of VIZORSTOR’S features? VizorStor is interchangeable between the driver’s and the passenger’s sunvisors. A person need only purchase one VizorStor then decide later which side they prefer. Better yet, get one for each side and then you won’t have to make that tough decision.
VizorStor is made from steel and powder coated to withstand the rigors of emergency vehicle operation. VizorStor can generally be installed in the field with either a Phillips or Torx driver and about 15 minutes time.

What is next for VIZORSTOR? In the future, I hope to market an optional cover with multiple slots for cards the size of business cards, a holder for at least one pen, and a flexible pocket for other items. Not only will these items be convenient and secure, they will be out of sight of prying eyes. I will also be producing revised models to accommodate design changes in new vehicles and suggestions from my customers.
